AMT 1962 Mercury Comet Hardtop Styline Annual Kit S-3062 in Display Case Box 62
AMT'62 Comet HT Styline. AMT'62 Mercury Comet Hardtop, original issue 3-in-1 annual Styline kit that could be built stock, custom, or as a'stylized' radical custom. Also including a neat 6-cylinder engine that could be built and put on a stand next to the model, with stock or fuel injected build versions. Kit has the rare flap-style box that includes a cover that opens up to a cellophane sheet that the builder could use as a display case for their built model. Kit looks to be partially built, with no paint on anything but the glass glued in (at the locator rings only - not along the edges), the interior assembled stock, and the axle locator blocks glued to the chassis. It looks like the rear tail light panel was glued to the body at one time too, and the tail lights are still installed in the panel. One of the chrome fender ornaments is broken.
The kit has been inventoried with the instruction sheet, and is complete with all molded-in-white, chrome parts, clear parts, red tail lights, 4 whitewall tires, 4 chassis screws and 2 metal axles accounted for. The body looks good, with no damage to the window posts or sanding off of any details. The chrome parts have nice shine (the bumpers are so shiny that I wonder whether they may be rechromed or Modelhaus replacements), and the glass is free of major scratching or tire burns. Including instructions, decal sheet, sandpaper sheet, upholstery sheet, and an AMT 1962 Seattle World's Fair flyer, but no body putty tube. Box is in nice original condition with only minor shelfwear, and one end of the inner cellophane loose.
