AMT 1958 Ford Hardtop Kit Annual Orig Issue Custom Built Chopped Flat Black 58

AMT'58 Ford hardtop, original issue 3-in-1 annual kit. It started life an old builtup with roof damage and other issues.

A skilled builder restored it several years ago as a custom. It is still a very simple kit (curbside, with no opening hood or engine detail), but it has had several neat custom features added. Chopped roof, with glass to suit. Paint is a sprayed-on flat black, with a few minor flaws but looking quite good overall. Trim looks to mostly be baremetal foiled, possible with some of it painted on here and there. It too has a few flaws, but looks good all in all. Front grill looks to have been opened up with mesh added behind it. Hubcaps are aftermarket metal Moon discs, and there are small Moon decals on the lower front fenders. Interior is neatly painted tri-tone red/white/black.

It has an oversided floor shifter with white ball knob. Tail light lenses are red with blue dots (I don't know whether this was done with marker or paint). Manitoba custom license plates front and rear reading'DARTH'. No box, instructions or additional parts included. See my other auctions for more scarce vintage kits.
